Near the northeastern shores of Lake Biwa, Japan's largest lake, and just a few kilometers east of Maibara Station, there's a small village called Kaminyu. In a river valley at the foot of Mt. Ryozen in the Suzuka Mountain Range, this community is known as "the village of woodcarving."

Woodcarving Association

Introducing our craftspersons guild, the Kaminyu Woodcarving Association. We welcome various inquiries and proposals, for works made either individually or collectively. In the past, we have worked collaboratively on large scale mural carvings for various venues.

Access to Kaminyu

By Public Transportation

Get off at JR Samegai Sta (Tokaido Main Line). Walk for 30 min or take a taxi for 5 minutes.

Driving by car

From Meishin Expressway, exit at Maibara Interchange. Drive east for 10 minutes and turn right before the intersection in front of JR Samegai Sta. Drive another 2 km along the river.
* Use parking lot adjacent to Ibotori Park.
